The Long Weekend Blue Ridge

Every day feels like Saturday.

In this guide

Welcome

Welcome to The Long Weekend.

The first time we came up this ridge was on a crisp fall afternoon. The leaves had turned an intense yellow and red, the air was still, and everything felt peaceful in a way that's hard to find. We knew right away we wanted to share that feeling. So we made a place for it: a cozy space built for unwinding, inside and out.

Our one hope for your stay is simple. We want you to leave more relaxed than you arrived. Sleep in. Make a slow cup of coffee. Wrap up in a blanket by the fire pit.

And if you take only one piece of advice from us, make it this: get in the hot tub about an hour before sunset. Watch the sky change colors over the trees, and let it soothe away whatever you brought up the mountain with you.

“We loved having the hot tub, sauna, and fire pit, especially since the fall weather was perfect in the mountains.”

Your first ten minutes

  1. 1Walk through the house and check that everything's working and you have all you need. If anything's off, message us right away.
  2. 2Grab your hot tub towels. They're in the primary bedroom closet, the one thing every guest goes looking for.
  3. 3Settle in. You're on a long weekend now.
The House

Everything you need, nothing you don't

The deck: weather or not

Built for relaxing outside no matter what the mountains are doing. Start a fire in the propane fire pit and huddle up in a blanket. Soak in the hot tub while the trees go dark, or let the sauna warm you all the way through, then step back into the cool air.

The coffee station, tucked in the kitchen corner

The coffee station: the first ritual

Every good morning starts in the same corner of the kitchen. Fill a mug, find a window, let the day start slowly. Take your first cup out to the deck and watch the forest wake up.

French press and bag of coffee on the kitchen shelf

  1. 1.Heat water, let it sit 30 seconds off the boil.
  2. 2.Add coarse-ground coffee, about 1 tablespoon per 4oz water.

  4. 4.Lid on, plunger up, wait 4 minutes.
  5. 5.Press down slowly and pour right away.

Coffee Maker

  1. 1.Fill the tank with cold water, between 2 Cup and MAX.
  2. 2.No. 4 cone filter, one level scoop per cup.
  3. 3.Press the OXO button, turn the dial to 2–4 or 5–9 cups.
  4. 4.Press OXO again to start brewing.
  5. 5.Leave the brew basket lid closed until it's done.

The living room: low, long, and velvet

The burnt amber velvet couch is the heart of the living room. Pull a blanket over your knees, switch on the electric fireplace under the TV, and stay put. Nobody here will judge you for not leaving the couch.

The little things

Heating & cooling

Press Mode on the remote until the icon changes from snowflake to sun. There are three units in the house, keep them all on the same mode so the system runs efficiently.

Ceiling fans & lights

Each room has its own remote for the fan and light. Flip the wall switch on first, then use the remote.

How It Works

The hot tub, the sauna, and the fire pit

Every step below that has a close-up photo is paired with it directly, so you always know exactly which knob, latch, or dial it means.

The hot tub

Private hot tub on the covered deck

1

Unlatch the four buckles on the cover.

Good to know

No food or drinks in the hot tub

When you're done

When you're done, put the cover back on to keep the water clean. At checkout, cover on, all four latches secured.

The sauna

4

If the power trips

press the reset button on the bottom of the heater.

Good to know

No food or drinks, touch only the knobs. The door is held shut by a magnet, a firm pull opens it from outside

When you're done

When you're done, leave the vent open, door closed.

When you're done

When you're done, push the knob in, turn clockwise to OFF, then close the tank valve.

House Rules

A few things to know

Quiet after 11pm. Sound carries a long way in the mountains.
Shoes off inside, please.
Up to 4 guests. That's what the house is set up for.
No pets, no smoking or vaping, and no parties or events.
You're sharing the forest. We're in the woods, and plenty of wildlife shares this space with us: bugs, deer, and sometimes bears. Please don't leave food or drinks outside overnight. The bears will thank you by staying away.
The Area

Color country

Mineral Bluff is a small place: a few hundred people, a river, and a lot of forest, about six miles northeast of Blue Ridge. You're close enough to town for dinner and far enough out that what you hear at night is the wind in the trees.

Come in the fall for the color, usually peaking between mid-October and early November. Summer is for floating the Toccoa River, spring for waterfalls and wildflowers, and winter for exactly what this house was built for: a fire, a hot tub, and nowhere to be.

Eat & drink

Our two favorites are marked. Most of these are in downtown Blue Ridge, so you can park once and walk between them.

The Dogwood — Come hungry for the biscuits.

The Cantaberry — Easy, casual, in the Main Street shops.

ROE — Seafood and steaks, courtyard seating.

Drinks

Grumpy Old Men Brewing — Dog-friendly patio, live music weekends.
Angry Hops Brewing — Right downtown, for a pint between shops.
Mercier Orchards — The only Georgia orchard growing, pressing, and bottling its own hard cider.

Get outside

Aska Road — A winding drive through farms and forest, trailheads and river pull-offs.
Stanley Rapids — Pull off, sit on the rocks, watch the water.
Lake Blue Ridge Recreation Area — Easy paved paths through hardwood forest.

Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park — Our neighbor on the Toccoa: picnic spots, trails, trout fishing.
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway — A four-hour round trip along the river in vintage cars. Book about three weeks ahead in fall.
